A strong earthquake occurred off the coast of Kamchatka.

The U.S. Geological Survey rated the magnitude of the earthquake recorded on the night of September 19th as 7.8.

Following an earthquake that occurred 100 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at a depth of 10 kilometers, aftershocks with a magnitude of 5.8 were recorded.

There is currently no information on casualties. The US announced a tsunami warning.

The Russian side noted the earthquake's strength was around 7.2–7.4.
