The U.S. government has launched the "Trump Gold Card" program, which expedites the process of granting residency rights to foreign citizens similar to Green Cards. On September 19, Donald Trump signed a new executive order on this matter.
According to him, this program is aimed at attracting "very successful" and "very productive" individuals to the U.S. "They spend a lot of money to come here," he said. In the President's opinion, the program will bring billions of dollars into the country, and these funds will be directed towards tax cuts, paying off the national debt, and other beneficial endeavors.
The new program envisions a new type of visa for foreign citizens who are ready to support the U.S., willing to pay $1 million, and possess high qualifications or abilities. Additionally, U.S. companies can pay the government $2 million to obtain expedited residency rights for their foreign employees.
The program's website also lists another option: a foreign citizen who pays $5 million will receive a Trump Platinum Card. Holders of this card will be exempt from paying U.S. taxes on income earned outside the United States.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick emphasized that the program will attract individuals who "open new businesses and create jobs for Americans." According to him, this program will bring over $100 billion into the U.S. budget.
On the same day, Trump signed another executive order. According to it, the rules for issuing H-1B type special visas have been changed. These visas allow U.S. companies to hire highly qualified specialists from other countries. Now, if a company wants to bring in a foreign specialist, it must pay the government $100,000. The administration believes these changes will further incentivize the hiring and training of Americans.
