A criminal case has been initiated against a man for sexual misconduct towards young girls in Tashkent. This was reported by the Children's Ombudsman.
It is noted that on May 13 of this year, in a children's playground located in the Uchtepa district, a man born in 1977 committed sexual misconduct, namely lewd and depraved acts, against O.Y., a girl born in 2012, and her friend L.A., who are minors.
The man was held accountable for this act; however, the mother of one of the girls stated to the Ombudsman that this situation had not been approached from the perspective of the child's best interests. Upon reviewing the relevant investigation and court documents, it was found that the appeal was justified.
Subsequently, a petition was submitted to the Appellate Judicial Panel for Criminal Cases of the Tashkent City Court for a full and impartial review of this case. Due to the presence of criminal elements in the acts of sexual misconduct against children under the age of 16, it was requested that the relevant district prosecutor's office be instructed to initiate a criminal case, thereby overturning the court's decision.
On September 17 of this year, the case was heard on appeal in the Tashkent City Court. A court decision was issued to return the case for further investigation until additional investigative actions are completed and to instruct the prosecutor's office to resolve the issue of initiating a criminal case against the accused.
