More than 50 people were killed in traffic accidents involving scooters during the 8 months of this year.
It is reported that during this period, more than 300 road traffic accidents involving vehicles such as scooters and mopeds occurred, resulting in 53 citizen fatalities and 259 people sustaining bodily injuries.
By October 1, 2025, moped and scooter riders must possess a driver's license, and these vehicles must be registered with the state.
For vehicles with an engine displacement of 25 cc and above, but not exceeding 50 cc, as well as an electric motor power of 0.25 kilowatts and above, but not exceeding 4 kilowatts, and a design speed of 25 kilometers per hour and above, but not exceeding 50 kilometers per hour, namely mopeds and scooters, specific state license plates must be obtained and they must be registered with the state.
Previously, the People's Democratic Party opposed this decision. It was emphasized that currently about 130,000 young people are engaged in courier services using bicycles, mopeds, and scooters. Their main income is formed through this sector.
