In January-August of this year, 298 individuals were convicted under Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (domestic violence). Of these, 81 received a sentence of imprisonment. This was reported by the Tashkent City Court.
It is emphasized that in the entire previous year of 2024, a total of 472 people were convicted under this article, and 150 of them were sentenced to imprisonment.
Furthermore, since the beginning of 2025, 7,624 individuals have been held administratively liable under Article 59-2 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. Of these, 6,585 were subjected to administrative arrest.
For sexual violence (Article 41-1 of the Criminal Code), 1,450 people were convicted, of which 969 were imprisoned and 481 were fined. This figure was 1,854 people in the same period of 2024.
At the same time, 47 divorce petitions were filed with the courts due to domestic violence, and 37 of them were granted — meaning that in four out of every five cases, violence is leading to the breakdown of the family.
