"Due to their serious misrepresentation of the facts and hostile actions, I am imposing an additional 10 percent tariff on the tariffs currently being paid to Canada," wrote the US President on his Truth Social social media page.

Earlier, Trump had halted trade negotiations with Canada precisely because of this advertisement.

Subsequently, the advertiser announced that the government of Canada's Ontario province would pull the advertisement from the airwaves, but this will take effect starting Monday. This means the advertisement will air during the broadcast of a popular baseball game in the United States on its days off.
