US President Donald Trump said Beijing would help end the war in Ukraine after a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. However, experts are questioning this statement.

According to Ukrainian analyst Nataliia Plaksiienko-Butyrska, China has not agreed to stop buying Russian oil, and Trump did not raise the issue sharply. "This shows that Trump did not get quick support from China to stop the war," she says.

Marina Rudyak, a scholar at Heidelberg University, emphasized that there was no specific agreement in the Trump-Xi meeting. According to her, if the war ends, US attention will shift to the Asia-Pacific region, which contradicts China's interests.

Berlin-based expert Angela Stanzel also said that one should not expect major results from the meeting, noting that Trump's options for putting pressure on Beijing are limited. In her opinion, China's rare earth metals, the fentanyl problem, and trade restrictions, which are important for the US, are having a negative impact on Trump's voters.
