According to the Uzbekistan Hydrometeorological Service (Uzhydromet), on November 11, the level of atmospheric air pollution in the cities of Tashkent and Andijan was above normal.
In Andijan, the amount of PM10 particles was 502 µg/m³, and PM2.5 particles were 314 µg/m³ — this is 1 and 8.9 times higher than the norm, respectively. In Tashkent, the PM2.5 indicator was 143 µg/m³, which was reported to be 2.4 times higher than the norm.
Uzhydromet issued the following recommendations to citizens: – reduce outdoor activities as much as possible; – wear a mask when going outside; – caution for children, the elderly, and citizens with cardiovascular diseases.
According to officials, air quality monitoring is continuing and additional measures to reduce pollution levels are being considered.
