Currently, the population of Uzbekistan is 37.8 million people, of which 20.35 million are part of the labor resources. The number of employed people has reached 14.81 million, which represents an increase of 4.1 percent.
The number of people employed in the formal sector increased by 17 percent, amounting to 8.58 million, while the number of employed in the informal sector decreased by 26.9 percent. 1.86 million Uzbek citizens are working abroad — this is 512 thousand more people compared to last year.
According to the Ministry's information, the decrease in unemployment has been due to the strengthening of employment policies, the creation of new jobs, and the expansion of investment projects.
