A video-selector meeting on poverty reduction and ensuring employment is currently being held under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. At the meeting, the khokims (governors) of two districts — Denov and Chiroqchi in Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya — and their first deputies were dismissed from their posts.

It was noted that work with low-income families had slowed down in Denov district, and the income of 1,200 families had not improved. Chiroqchi district was criticized for not effectively utilizing the 309 billion soums allocated for entrepreneurship development.

At the meeting, the Uzun district of Surkhandarya was mentioned as an exemplary area. The district has attracted foreign investment, launched dozens of enterprises, and thousands of residents have gained income through micro-projects. As a result, it was reported that the poverty rate has decreased from 10.5% at the beginning of the year to 3%.
