A verdict was announced in the criminal case against A.K., the former deputy governor of Sarosiyo district, Surkhandarya region. According to court materials, he promised to "resolve" the issue of getting a citizen a job at a garden for his acquaintances and, through an intermediary, received $500. It was noted that he misappropriated the money by abusing his official position through fraud.
During the trial, A.K. denied the charges, stating that he had received the money as a loan. However, the court found the changed testimonies of the witnesses unreliable and based its decision on the evidence in the investigative materials.
As a result, A.K. was found guilty under the articles of the Criminal Code related to fraud and mediation in bribery and was sentenced to 3 years and 1 month of imprisonment, with the deprivation of the right to hold managerial positions for 2 years and 1 month. The $500 related to the case will be transferred to state revenue.
