Eleven workers were killed and two others were injured as a result of a railway accident that occurred in the morning in China's Yunnan province.
According to the "South China Morning Post," test train "No. 55537," which was being used to test seismic equipment, collided with workers who were working on construction near the Luoyangzhen station in Kunming.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred while work was being carried out on a curved section of the railway line—the train hit the workers head-on.
Rapid rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and an emergency regime was activated.
The Kunming Railway Administration expressed condolences in memory of the deceased and to their family members. After the rescue work was completed, station operations were restored. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
