At least 21 people died as a result of floods caused by heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Safi region of Morocco, located on the Atlantic Ocean coast. Local media reported this.
According to information from the MEDI1TV channel, heavy rain that fell in the Safi region on December 14 caused flash floods in a short time. Local authorities confirmed the death toll reached 21 people.
According to Moroccan media, approximately 70 houses and shops in the city of Safi were flooded, and 10 cars were swept away by the current. Road infrastructure was also seriously damaged.
According to reports, 32 people were injured as a result of the natural disaster. They were hospitalized, and after receiving necessary medical assistance, most were discharged home.
Currently, rescue services continue search operations for missing persons, and measures are being taken to reach areas affected by the natural disaster.
It should be recalled that it was previously reported that 14 people, including three children, died due to floods caused by heavy rains that lasted 72 hours in the Gaza region.
