Due to a fuel shortage, the Al-Awda Hospital, located in the center of Gaza, was forced to suspend its operations. This situation is endangering the lives of thousands of patients, including newborn infants.

Despite the announcement of a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel in October, the volume of fuel allowed into Gaza remains severely restricted. According to Al-Awda Hospital director Ahmad Muhanna, only about 10 percent of the necessary fuel is reaching the enclave. As a result, generators have stopped working, and the institution has completely halted its activities.

The hospital, located in the Nuseirat refugee camp, primarily served as a maternity hospital.

Due to the shrinking capabilities, at least 30 babies are being transferred to other medical institutions. Officials are calling on the international community to intervene in the situation urgently.
