According to the Ministry of Justice, in some higher education institutions, works have been fully converted into electronic format without the consent of the authors or other rights holders and without concluded contracts, and have been placed on the unilibrary.uz platform and the universities' social media pages.
The higher education institutions where copyright was violated are:
— Alisher Navoiy Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature;
— Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan;
— Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies;
— Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture;
— Nizomiy National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan.
Regarding the identified cases, statements have been officially drawn up against the responsible persons based on the relevant articles of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, and the cases have been sent to the courts.
According to legislation, the author or rights holder has the right to claim compensation from the violator in the amount of 20 to 1000 times the Base Calculation Amount for covering the damage caused.
