Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this about Ukraine in his New Year's address to the people. According to him, Ukraine wants peace, but it should not be at any cost.
"We are ready for compromise, but not for humiliation. We want the war to end, but not Ukraine," the President said.
Zelenskyy also emphasized the need to increase pressure on Russia to force it to cease fire and rejected claims that military operations would stop after Ukrainian Armed Forces left the Donetsk region.
He also stated that any future peace agreement must be approved by the people of Ukraine. The President said that weak agreements would only intensify the war and criticized the experience of the Budapest Memorandum and the Minsk agreements.
Zelenskyy noted that security guarantees for Ukraine must be ratified by the U.S. Congress and the parliaments of European states.
He also emphasized that unity between Ukraine and Europe, as well as international financial assistance, are crucial for the country's stability.
