According to the Kremlin press service, Emomali Rahmon sharply condemned the drone attack allegedly carried out by Ukraine on the residence of the Russian President located in the Novgorod region on the night of December 28-29. The statement particularly emphasized that this incident occurred at a time when efforts to resolve issues peacefully against the backdrop of Russia-US relations have intensified.
During the conversation, the parties also discussed regional issues, taking into account the situation in Afghanistan, and confirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Tajikistan. At the end of the talks, the leaders sincerely congratulated each other on the New Year.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry head Sergey Lavrov reported that on the night of December 29, an attack allegedly organized by Ukraine using 91 drones was carried out on Putin's residence, but no information was provided about casualties or damage. The US Central Intelligence Agency, however, stated that it believes the said attack was not directed at the residence.
We recall that earlier, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also held a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin and condemned this alleged attack attempt.
