In Uzbekistan, expenses related to bringing the bodies of citizens who die while in labor migration back to their homeland will now be covered by the state. This provision was established through a new addition introduced into the law "On Burial and Burial Affairs".
According to this procedure, the costs of organizing the repatriation of the bodies of Uzbek citizens who die abroad during the period of labor migration will be financed from the funds of the Migration Fund. These funds are allocated by the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers in accordance with current legislation.
The law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on July 1, 2025, and approved by the Senate on September 4, 2025. The document also introduces amendments and additions aimed at harmonizing a number of regulatory legal acts.
These changes serve to protect the rights and legal interests of citizens, as well as to protect the family members of compatriots in labor migration from excessive financial burdens. At the same time, a mechanism for state financial support for the process of repatriating bodies to the homeland has been clearly defined.
