According to the "T24" news, in an attack that occurred on January 28, 2024, two masked individuals stormed into a church during worship and opened fire on people. As a result, Tuncer Cihan, a 52-year-old Turkish citizen, was killed. According to the church clergyman, the number of casualties did not increase because one of the attackers' weapon malfunctioned.

According to investigation data, the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack. Tajikistani Amirjon Holikov and Russian David Tanduev were identified as the direct perpetrators of the attack. It is stated that they carried out this act on the instructions of Tajikistani Adam Hamirzaev, known by the alias "Adam Abu-Darrar al-Shishani".

The court found them guilty under the articles of "attempting to overthrow the constitutional order by force" and "premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances" and sentenced them to life imprisonment for each article.
