An employee of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations was caught red-handed while taking 100 thousand US dollars, having promised to issue a license to a non-state university branch.

According to reports, the leading specialist of the Department for Licensing Educational Institutions of the Ministry demanded $100,000 from a university official in exchange for promptly resolving the issuance of a license for a branch of a non-state higher education institution operating in the city of Karshi to open a branch in Surkhandarya region.

Employees of the Kashkadarya regional department of the State Security Service detained him with material evidence while he was receiving the demanded money during an operational event conducted in the city of Tashkent.

Regarding the incident, the Investigation Department of the SSS has initiated a criminal case against this individual under Part 4, clause "a" of Article 168 (fraud) of the Criminal Code, and detention has been applied as a preventive measure. The investigation is currently ongoing.
