From July 1, new limited "reference" prices have been introduced in Uzbekistan for 2,500 types of medicines sold in pharmacies by prescription. The Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Sector announced this.

According to the new procedure, prices for antibiotics and antimicrobial agents have been reduced by up to 50.1%, for medicines intended for the cardiovascular system by up to 37%, for nervous system drugs by up to 40%, and for anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs by up to 42%.

According to the agency, it is now not allowed to sell these medicines at a price higher than the established reference price. The tax committee's information system will automatically detect electronic invoices issued at higher prices and reject them.

It is noted that reference prices are formed on the basis of international practice. This takes into account average prices abroad, the value in the manufacturing country, and contract prices for medicines imported to Uzbekistan.

Citizens can check the limited prices of medicines on the website pharm.gov.uz or through the "PharmUz" mobile application.
