It has become known that the United States has requested Israel at a high political level to stop strikes on energy facilities in Iran, particularly oil infrastructure. Axios reported this, citing sources.
According to information, on March 7, Israeli aircraft carried out strikes on oil depots in Tehran and the nearby city of Karaj. As a result, fires at oil bases in the Iranian capital led to the observation of "black rain" due to polluted particles rising into the air.
According to one Israeli official, the Trump administration also requested prior notification from Israel about any planned attacks on Iran's oil facilities. The U.S. cited several reasons for this: such strikes could harm Iranian citizens, plans for cooperation with Iran's oil sector after the war, and that these actions could provoke retaliatory attacks by Tehran on the energy infrastructure of the Persian Gulf states.
Axios notes that this is the first time since the conflict began that the U.S. is attempting to limit Israeli military actions. Washington is also concerned that new strikes on Iranian oil facilities could lead to a sharp increase in world oil prices.
