At least 16 people have died as a result of extreme heat in the southern Indian state of Telangana. Zamon.uz reported.
According to officials, the victims died of heatstroke. Temperatures in the region are exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in some places.
In this regard, the state government held an emergency meeting, discussed the situation, and issued a warning to the population.
Citizens are advised not to go outdoors during daytime unless necessary, to drink more water, and to be careful of the heat.
The India Meteorological Department had earlier announced that the heatwave in this part of South Asia would continue until at least May 26.
