In 2025, 954 crimes that required the initiation of a criminal case were concealed in the capital. This was reported by Tashkent city prosecutor Anvar Urmanov in a report.

It is noted that during the year, the city prosecutor's office conducted control measures to verify the accuracy of reports and identify cases of concealing crimes from records.

"954 unlawful decisions (courts — 537, districts — 417) by internal affairs bodies to refuse to initiate a criminal case were annulled, and criminal cases were initiated based on them. 23 of the concealed crimes constitute serious crimes, and it was found that three crimes were concealed by not registering them," — stated the capital prosecutor's information.

Anvar Urmanov also stated that special control has been established over pre-investigation checks and the investigation of criminal cases. In particular, last year, 124 decisions to refuse to initiate a criminal case were annulled and criminal cases were initiated. At the same time, 70 decisions to terminate and suspend criminal cases were annulled.

Prosecutorial supervision has been established to ensure that pre-investigation checks, inquiries, and preliminary investigations are conducted comprehensively, objectively, and in strict compliance with the requirements of the legislation, — reported the capital prosecutor.

For reference, in the past year 2025, 30,600 crimes were registered in Tashkent. This indicator decreased by 4.7 percent compared to 2024 (32,106). More than half of the registered crimes (16,248) were cybercrimes. Preventable crimes amounted to 7,681, which is 1,225 (13.8 percent) fewer than the year before.
