Uzbekistan signed a protocol on concluding negotiations with India on market access within the framework of the process of joining the World Trade Organization. This was announced by the president's representative on WTO issues, chief negotiator Azizbek Urunov, on his LinkedIn page.
According to him, agreements with India were reached in 2024, but additional work was carried out to technically harmonize and finalize the text of the document.
"The Indian side showed a constructive approach on the issue of market access," he said.
Azizbek Urunov also separately noted that Uzbekistan's embassy in India and India's embassy in Uzbekistan actively participated in this process.
Earlier, in February 2026, the negotiator stated that the timeline for joining the WTO could be postponed due to some countries delaying the review of documents. However, if all decisions depended solely on Uzbekistan, the country would have been ready to join the organization as early as March.
On May 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions to complete the process of joining the WTO in 2026.
