In Namangan region, an investigator who demanded $40,000 in exchange for closing a criminal case and a lawyer who acted as an intermediary have been apprehended. This was reported by officers of the State Security Service during an operational operation.

According to information, the investigator of the Investigation Department of the Namangan Regional Internal Affairs Directorate illegally demanded money in exchange for concluding a criminal case opened against a 20-year-old resident of Chust district under his jurisdiction.

He arranged to receive $40,000 through a lawyer who had no connection to the case, acting as an intermediary in the process.

During the operational operation, the lawyer was caught red-handed while receiving the demanded amount from the suspect's father. Subsequently, it was reported that the investigator was also apprehended while receiving $30,000 from the lawyer.

Currently, criminal cases have been initiated against them under Article 210 (taking a bribe) and Article 212 (mediation in taking a bribe) of the Criminal Code. By court decision, a pre-trial detention measure has been applied to both.
