The Department of Health of the Samarkand region issued an official statement regarding reports that a woman brought to a maternity hospital in the Ishtikhan district of the Samarkand region died and the fetus was lost.

According to the information, citizen N.E. applied to the maternity department of the Ishtikhan district central hospital on April 10 with pain in the abdomen and lower back. During medical examinations, cloudiness of the amniotic fluid and severe changes in the fetal heartbeat were detected.

The doctors explained to the patient the need for an emergency cesarean section. However, because close relatives did not consent to the operation, the patient was taken to another hospital — the Chelak maternity department of the Payariq district.

As a result of subsequent examinations, antenatal fetal death was recorded. The patient received medical care in a hospital setting, but she died on April 14.

According to the forensic medical examination, the woman's death occurred as a result of pulmonary artery thromboembolism accompanied by acute cardiovascular and respiratory failure.

Currently, pre-investigation checks are being conducted regarding the incident.
