Two inspectors working in the tax inspectorate of the Yunusobod district of the city of Tashkent were detained on suspicion of accepting a bribe. The State Security Service reported this.
According to the report, based on a complaint received by the SSS Call Center, an operational measure was carried out in cooperation with the Service’s Department for the city of Tashkent and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
It was found that these inspectors, acting in collusion and abusing their official position, promised an entrepreneur assistance in renting three retail shops from the joint-stock company "Chilonzor Commodity Market Complex."
Through their acquaintances, they demanded $5,000 US dollars in exchange for ensuring that a limited liability company relevant to the entrepreneur was declared the winner of an open auction and for formalizing contracts for the lease of the retail shops.
During the operational measure, the tax inspectors were caught red-handed at the moment of receiving the requested sum of money.
A criminal case has been initiated against them, and investigative actions are currently underway.
The State Security Service urged citizens to report cases of corruption and other violations via the SSS short number 1520. It was noted that the confidentiality of applicants is guaranteed.
