Iranian state media have announced the dates and locations for the farewell and funeral ceremonies of the country's former supreme leader, Ali Khamenei. This was reported by Zamon.uz, citing Reuters sources. Report
According to the announcement, the farewell events will begin on July 4–5 at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in Tehran. Official farewell ceremonies for the deceased will be held there.
Afterwards, on July 7, a subsequent farewell event will be organized in the city of Qom. Members of the public and officials are expected to attend.
The final funeral ceremony will take place on July 9 in the city of Mashhad. Khamenei's body is planned to be buried on the grounds of the Imam Reza shrine.
According to Iranian officials, the ceremonies will be organized in several stages and will be held with heightened security measures.
Let us recall that Ali Khamenei was reported to have been killed in February 2026 as a result of airstrikes in Tehran. Due to the security situation in the country, the farewell events were delayed by several months.
