The Senate approved a law envisaging the transfer of authority to review certain environmental and administrative violations to the Department of Protection under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They can now take measures regarding cases of poaching, illegal hunting, and tree felling.
According to the law, the authority to review administrative cases concerning smoking in public places and environmental violations will be transferred to protection officers. Furthermore, the function of authorizing technical surveillance means will be granted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The senators emphasized that these changes will serve to strengthen public safety and enhance discipline.
