In Uzbekistan, citizens who do not submit expired vehicles for recycling may have to pay an environmental compensation of 30 times the base calculation amount.

According to the Waste Management Agency, a system for purchasing and recycling old vehicles is being planned for introduction. Under this, cars that are 30 years or older will be purchased from their owners at market value and sent for recycling.

At the same time, settlements with car owners can be made in various forms. In particular, an electronic voucher will be introduced as a down payment for the purchase of a new car, or its value will be paid in cash.

Consumers will be able to purchase new locally produced cars under favorable conditions using these vouchers. A discount will be given in the amount of the voucher's value, and the remaining amount can be paid in installments over a period of more than one year.

Citizens who do not submit their old cars for recycling in the prescribed manner will pay an environmental compensation of 30 times the base calculation amount once a year.

For reference, such a practice is applied in more than 60 countries around the world. In particular, programs have been established in countries such as France, Germany, Japan, China, and the United States to encourage the recycling of old cars and their replacement with new ones.

Let us recall that earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan may introduce state support for replacing old vehicles with new ones or installing filters on them.
