A former investigator accused of falsifying evidence in a complaint about sexual violence in the Namangan region has been sentenced to imprisonment.
According to court documents, D.O., who worked as a senior investigator in the investigation department under the Davlatobod district Internal Affairs Department, made a decision contrary to the requirements of the law regarding the application of the victim woman.
It was reported that in March 2025, a woman named D.K. applied to law enforcement agencies, stating that a person had forced her into sexual intercourse using violence. The forensic medical examination report found various injuries on the victim's body and traces indicating the possibility of sexual assault.
Despite this, the investigator concluded that there were no signs of a crime in the suspect's actions and refused to initiate a criminal case.
During the investigation, it was found that he prepared an explanatory letter on behalf of the suspect, inserting information that the victim had voluntarily consented to sexual intercourse. A later examination confirmed that the writing and signatures in that document did not belong to the suspect.
It also became known that the former investigator formalized a false document stating that the prosecutor's office had found the decision lawful, and in it, he also forged the electronic signature of the deputy prosecutor.
According to the materials, the prosecutor's office later overturned the refusal decision and sent the case back for additional investigation. After that, fearing exposure, the investigator destroyed some documents.
The court noted that because no measures were taken in time, a dangerous repeat offender who remained at large later committed several more serious crimes. In particular, he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl and dishonored another woman. Later, this person was arrested and sentenced to 9 years in prison.
The Namangan city court for criminal cases found the former investigator guilty of abuse of official authority, official forgery, and falsification of evidence, and sentenced him to 3 years and 1 month of imprisonment.
Later, the regional court reviewed the case in the appellate instance, removed one of the charges, and set the former investigator's sentence at 3 years and 25 days.
