A strong tornado was observed in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia on the evening of June 22. As a result of the natural disaster, dozens of houses were damaged, and at least 16 people were injured.

According to reports, the tornado was first observed in the village of Malaya Laya. It later intensified and reached the city of Kushva. The greatest damage was recorded in this area.
According to the emergency services, 99 private houses were damaged in Kushva, which has a population of nearly 27,000. Of these, 32 were completely destroyed.

As a result of the natural disaster, 16 people sustained varying degrees of injury. One of the victims was hospitalized in Nizhny Tagil with a broken arm.
Additionally, due to damage to power transmission lines, several thousand consumers were left without electricity. Disruptions in drinking water supply were also observed in some areas.

From a safety perspective, gas supply was temporarily suspended in Kushva. A state of emergency has been declared in the area, and temporary accommodation points have been set up for the population.
According to local publications, utility services are continuing to work on mitigating the consequences of the disaster. In this regard, the population has been asked to assist in street cleaning efforts.

Meteorologists, meanwhile, are warning that such extreme weather events may also occur in other regions. Experts attribute this to an increase in the number of extreme atmospheric processes.
