The first case related to contracting the Ebola virus has been officially registered in France. According to the country's Ministry of Health, Zamon.uz publication reported.
According to reports, the dangerous virus was detected in a doctor who was part of a humanitarian mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. After returning to France, even before the test results were confirmed, he was placed in a medical facility specializing in infectious diseases as a precautionary measure.
The patient's condition is currently reported to be stable.
Regarding this case, French health authorities have launched an epidemiological investigation. Individuals who had contact with the patient have been identified, and they have been recommended to remain under medical observation for 21 days and to self-isolate.
According to reports, the country's Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, has taken personal control of the situation. The French government emphasized that the healthcare system is capable of taking prompt and effective measures against dangerous infectious diseases.
The Ebola virus is a hemorrhagic fever disease with a high mortality rate. Currently, the eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly Ituri province, remain the main epicenter of the disease.
According to official data, more than 900 confirmed cases have been registered in the country, with over 200 patients having died. The disease has also spread to the provinces of North Kivu and South Kivu, as well as to neighboring Uganda.
The World Health Organization has assessed the spread of Ebola as a public health emergency of international concern and has increased monitoring of the situation.
