It is reported that Rwanda has become the 167th state to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda, Olivier Nduhungirehe, signed a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Furthermore, a Memorandum of Understanding on establishing a mechanism for political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries was also signed.
The signing of these documents is assessed as another important step in Uzbekistan's path of expanding cooperation with the countries of the African continent.
