Cases of botulism associated with the use of illegal cosmetic preparations have been recorded in Uzbekistan. The Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety issued a warning about this, as reported.

According to the information, after some patients who visited the clinic of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases used the botulinum toxin-containing preparations "Refinex Botulinum Toxin Type A for Therapy" and "Dysport 500 Clostridium botulinum type A toxin-haemagglutinin complex" for cosmetic purposes, severe adverse reactions were observed.

It is noted that investigations are currently underway regarding the origin and legal circulation of these preparations.

The preparations "Refinex Botulinum Toxin Type A for Therapy" and "Dysport 500 Clostridium botulinum type A toxin-haemagglutinin complex" have not been registered in Uzbekistan, and their safety and efficacy have not been officially assessed.

The center recommended that citizens do not purchase suspicious products offered via the internet and social networks, stop using them, and immediately consult a doctor if symptoms appear.

Experts emphasize that if symptoms such as blurred vision, drooping eyelids, difficulty swallowing, speech impairment, and difficulty breathing occur, it is necessary to urgently seek medical help.

Currently, monitoring and investigative work regarding the situation continues.
