A 17-year-old young man drowned while swimming in the Shohrud canal in Kogon district of Bukhara region.
According to the Regional Emergency Situations Department report, on June 27, 2026, at 14:50, a report was received via the "112" system that a citizen born in 2009 had drowned in the Shohrud canal flowing through the "Sorgun" MFY area of Kogon district.
It is reported that the incident occurred in a canal with a width of 18–20 meters and a depth of 7–8 meters.
Search and rescue operations were carried out with the participation of rescuers from the Bukhara Regional Emergency Situations Department and local residents in order to find the citizen.
As a result of the search operations, the young man's body was found and recovered from the water on June 28, 2026, at 16:40.
Currently, pre-investigation inquiries are being conducted by the relevant organizations regarding the incident.
