A court verdict has been issued against members of a criminal group engaged in extortion in the territory of the "Auto Parts Market" located in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent city. This was reported by the Tashkent city courts.
According to the report, the members of this criminal group were detained in June 2025. They are individuals born between 1988 and 2002 in Tashkent city, Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions, most of whom have previous convictions.
According to the investigation materials, the suspects installed various equipment and spare parts on clients' cars without their consent or prior agreement and provided technical services. Then, for a service with a market value of approximately 600 US dollars, they demanded and extorted 13,300 US dollars from the citizen. The client who objected was subjected to pressure through intimidation and threats.
In another similar instance, the criminal group members installed spare parts on another citizen's car without his consent and valued the service at three times the market price. By confiscating the car key and applying pressure, they extorted 15 million soums from the citizen.
Today, June 29, a verdict was announced in the Uchtepa District Criminal Court regarding this case against 14 defendants.
The court found them guilty of extortion and other crimes, and depending on the severity of their actions, sentenced them to imprisonment ranging from 3 years to 6 years and 6 months.
It was also established that some previously convicted offenders will serve their sentences in strict-regime colonies, while the rest will serve in general-regime penal institutions.
