Two engineers working at an electricity network enterprise in one of the districts of Tashkent city drew up an act stating that an error had occurred in the calculation of electricity consumption because an electric meter installed at a commercial bank branch was connected to the network according to an incorrect scheme.
It was reported that they demanded 8,000 US dollars from the head of the LLC that connected the meter to the network, in exchange for reducing the fine calculated under this act from 400 million sums to 65 million sums.
During an operational measure conducted by employees of the Tashkent region department of the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, the engineers were detained while attempting to receive the money through a third party.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident, and investigative actions are ongoing.
