On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Azerbaijan. In the city of Gabala, he held negotiations with President Ilham Aliyev.

As the main political outcome, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to hold a new round of trilateral negotiations in Azerbaijan with the participation of Russia and the United States. He highly praised Baku’s mediating role and said that if Russia is ready to end the war, Kyiv is open to diplomatic dialogue.

During the visit, six agreements were signed between the two countries. The main focus was on the defense industry: in addition to arms purchases, joint production and collaborative product development (“co-production”) were agreed upon.

Ilham Aliyev emphasized that these agreements open up great opportunities for the industrial development of both countries. The sides also reaffirmed their continued mutual support for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
