Today, on July 3, the delegation of Uzbekistan participated in the farewell ceremony for Iran's former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. This was reported by the Mehr News agency.

According to the report, the delegation led by the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Nurdinjon Ismoilov, took part in the official ceremony held in Tehran. Also present at the event was the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Six days of mourning events are being held in Iran in connection with the farewell to Ali Khamenei. According to the Deputy Minister of Interior of Iran and head of the headquarters for organizing mourning events, Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, more than 30 states and religious figures from over 90 countries are expected to participate in the ceremonies.

The mourning events began on July 3 at the "Mossalla" complex in Tehran. Subsequent ceremonies are planned to be held in the cities of Qom and Mashhad, as well as in the cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq, which are considered holy for Shia Muslims. The final stage of the funeral ceremony will take place on July 9 in the city of Mashhad.

Let us recall that Ali Khamenei was reported to have died on February 28 of this year as a result of the initial strikes by the US and Israel on Iran. After that, preparations for mourning events were carried out in Iran for several months.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Nurdinjon Ismoilov, visited the Iranian Embassy in Tashkent and left an entry in the book of condolence opened on the occasion of the death of Ali Khamenei.
