Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump held a telephone conversation on July 4. During the conversation, the situation around Ukraine and Iran, as well as the prospects of relations between Moscow and Washington, were discussed.
According to the Kremlin press service, the conversation lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes. The call was initiated by the United States.
According to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, during the conversation Donald Trump expressed readiness to speed up the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and continue efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully. It was noted that US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are ready to continue dialogue with Moscow for this purpose.
Putin, for his part, emphasized that Russia is in favor of a political-diplomatic resolution of the conflict, but stressed that Moscow's key demands and approaches must be taken into account. At the same time, he provided information about the situation on the front, stating that Russian forces are taking control of new populated areas.
During the conversation, relations between the two countries were also discussed. The parties emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue in military-political and economic spheres. According to the Kremlin, Trump noted the need to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible in order to expand cooperation between the two countries.
