Kerala State Police in India have also opened a criminal case under the murder article regarding the 22-year-old Indian citizen killed by a fellow student in the Bukhara region. This was reported by Rediff.
According to reports, the criminal case was registered by the Haripad police station in the Alappuzha district based on a complaint from the deceased's parents. At the same time, a forensic medical examination was also conducted at the Alappuzha Medical College.
According to Binukumar, deputy head of the Kayamkulam police division, although the crime was committed on the territory of Uzbekistan, Indian legislation allows for initiating a case in such situations as well.
According to him, if Uzbek law enforcement authorities bring the suspect to justice, the case in India may be closed. Otherwise, the investigation will continue. For this purpose, cooperation with the Uzbek side will be established through the Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan and the Ministry of External Affairs.
The deceased's family, meanwhile, demands that the case be fully investigated in Kerala as well and that the main suspect be extradited to India. The police have stated that this matter will be considered based on international legal procedures.
According to preliminary information, a fellow student from the Malappuram district is suspected in the girl's death. According to the investigation's version, during a quarrel between them, the young man struck the girl with a laptop, causing her death.
However, the deceased's relatives indicate that the incident was more severe than the official interpretation. They emphasize that when the body was brought from Uzbekistan, numerous injuries were found on it. Family representatives suggest that the girl may have been tortured and beaten multiple times before her death.
So far, Uzbek law enforcement authorities have not provided any additional official information regarding this case.
