Individuals who were illegally providing religious education to minors in the Surkhandarya and Fergana regions have been exposed. This was reported by the State Security Service.

According to the report, during operational measures carried out in cooperation between the State Security Service and Internal Affairs bodies, cases of providing religious lessons in violation of legal requirements were identified in two regions.

It was found that a person born in 1985, a resident of Denov District in Surkhandarya region, who had previously been convicted, had been providing religious education since June of this year to 22 minors born between 2011 and 2019 in his home, without having any special religious education or the relevant permit.

Pre-investigation inspections revealed that children from Denov and Altinsoy districts lived and studied in this home under conditions that did not meet sanitary and hygienic requirements. For this, payments ranging from 500,000 soms to 100 US dollars were collected from their parents each month.

Additionally, during a search of the home of a woman born in 1971, a resident of Rishton District in Fergana region, conducted in the presence of witnesses, it was found that since the end of May of this year, she had been providing religious education without any permit to 5 minors born between 2011 and 2017, who had come from Baghdad and Yozyovon districts. During the inspection, literature used in the teaching process was seized as material evidence.

Currently, criminal cases have been initiated against these individuals in connection with both incidents under Part 2 of Article 229² of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are being carried out.

As for the parents of the children, administrative measures have been taken in accordance with Article 47 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, and preventive talks have been conducted.

The State Security Service has called on citizens to contact the agency via the short number 1520 in case they encounter similar legal violations. It was noted that the confidentiality of the applicant is guaranteed.
