The t.me short links in the Telegram messenger have stopped working worldwide. The messenger's founder, Pavel Durov, announced this on his X social network.
It is reported that on the night of July 14, the t.me domain belonging to Telegram was removed from the global DNS system. As a result, channels, groups, profiles, and invitation links created through this domain stopped working.
Pavel Durov contacted the operator of the .me domain zone regarding the issue and asked them to check the situation.
"Hello, @domainME. The t.me links have stopped working. Could you check this?" he wrote.
So far, no official explanation has been given as to why the t.me domain stopped working. Additionally, the operator of the .me domain zone has not issued any statement regarding this situation.
As a temporary solution, Telegram has started generating new links through the telegram.me domain. Now, when copying a link to a channel, post, or profile in the app, the address telegram.me appears instead of t.me.
It is noted that the issue is not related to the domain's expiration date. The t.me domain has been registered for the Telegram name until May 2035, and no changes have been observed in its name servers either.
