French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated the Spanish national team, which reached the final by defeating France in the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup.
Today, July 15, in the semifinal of the World Cup hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, Spain defeated France 2-0. After the match held in Arlington, Texas, Macron expressed his reaction on his social media page.
"I congratulate Spain on reaching the final. Thank you to the French national team, which selflessly defended the honor of our country. Today's defeat is hard, but this team is young and its future is great," wrote the French President.
For reference, the 2026 World Cup will conclude on July 19. The second finalist will be determined in the semifinal match between England and Argentina. This match will take place today, July 15.
