A 27-year-old young man drowned while swimming in the Syr Darya River in Namangan region. This was reported by the regional Emergency Situations Department.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the Syr Darya River flowing through the territory of the "Oq yer" mahalla in Namangan district. The deceased was born in 1999 and lived in Uchkuprik district of Fergana region.
According to preliminary data, he drowned due to negligence while swimming. A report of the incident was received by the 112 unified dispatch service at 18:26 on July 12.
Subsequently, divers from the Special Search and Rescue Squad of the Namangan Regional Emergency Situations Department began underwater search operations, while rescuers from the district Emergency Situations Division conducted searches on the water surface.
It was noted that the young man's body was found during the search operations.
The Emergency Services called on citizens to swim only in permitted and designated safe areas, and to strictly observe safety rules on water bodies.
