President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his official visit to the Republic of Belarus reviewed a presentation on the implementation of agreements reached on expanding interregional cooperation.
It was noted that at the conclusion of the head of state’s visit to Belarus on July 8–9, agreements were reached to bring the volume of trade between the two countries to $2 billion and to implement 310 projects and measures worth a total of $2 billion in the fields of mechanical engineering, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, wood processing, and medicine.
The President emphasized the importance of translating these agreements into practical results in a short time, creating new production capacities and jobs, and ensuring favorable conditions for entrepreneurs.
The presentation also provided information on opportunities for organizing joint production facilities in the regions of Belarus, developing agricultural cooperation, and providing organized employment for Uzbek citizens. In this regard, a task was set to pre-form a list of citizens and entrepreneurs wishing to work or do business in Belarus, and to agree on their workplaces, living conditions, and the necessary infrastructure for projects.
Also discussed were the results of cooperation between Andijan region and Vitebsk region. It was reported that within the framework of the approved “roadmap” between the two regions, 255 citizens of Andijan were sent to Vitebsk region in an organized manner and provided with jobs.
Furthermore, an agreement was reached to implement new investment projects based on 11 livestock complexes. Measures are being taken to launch investment and social projects involving the Andijan Invest company, based on a large livestock complex and a sanatorium complex.
Overall, 30 new projects totaling over $100 million have been formed in Vitebsk and other regions of Belarus in the fields of livestock, wood processing, logistics, trade, and services.
The President gave an instruction to apply the experience of Andijan-Vitebsk cooperation to other regions as well. Accordingly, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Navoi, Namangan, Tashkent, Fergana, and Samarkand regions will establish cooperation with Vitebsk, Mogilev, Grodno, Gomel, and Brest regions of Belarus. Separate “roadmaps” will be developed for each direction, and joint projects will be implemented in industrial and agricultural sectors.
At the same time, the task was set to take 30 leading entrepreneurs from each region to Belarus and launch joint projects with local partners.
The meeting also considered the issue of developing logistics infrastructure. By the end of the year, it is planned to launch an intermodal logistics center serving export-import cargo at the Orsha station in Vitebsk region, as well as to establish direct block train services between the two countries.
Special attention was also paid to the issue of employment of citizens. In the first stage, it is planned to place 1,100 citizens of Uzbekistan in 13 enterprises in Vitebsk and other regions of Belarus. Starting from September, it is envisaged to provide permanent employment for 500 citizens of Andijan per month, totaling 5,000, in Vitebsk region. For this purpose, a representative office of the Migration Agency will be opened in the city of Vitebsk.
The President emphasized that every agreement reached must materialize into a specific project, a new enterprise, additional trade volume, and new jobs, and instructed the responsible persons to constantly monitor and critically analyze the implementation of the “roadmaps.”
