US President Donald Trump stated that the ongoing military-political confrontation with Iran will soon be resolved in Washington's favor. Zamon.uz reported this.
"We will defeat Iran soon. They will be defeated very soon," Trump said.
In recent weeks, tensions between the US and Iran have intensified further. According to the US military command, since July 8, strikes have been carried out on a number of targets in Iranian territory. Washington has described these operations as a response to Tehran's actions against commercial vessels moving through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, in response, announced that it had struck some US military facilities in the Middle East.
On July 12, Tehran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz as long as US military intervention in the region continues. Shortly after, Trump announced the imposition of a "complete naval blockade" on Iran, stating that this measure would apply to all vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports, as well as those carrying Iranian cargo.
Also, the US President earlier called on Iran to «behave itself» and stressed that he currently has no intention of setting a specific date for resuming negotiations with Tehran.
