In Uzbekistan, the issue of expanding the scope of social assistance in mahallas was discussed, and violations of the law in including the needy population in the Social Register were sharply criticized. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a videoselector meeting dedicated to introducing a new environment in mahallas and improving the activities of the ";mahalla seven".
The head of state noted that in some places, certain citizens are being unreasonably denied inclusion in the Social Register or are being artificially removed from the register.
As a result, it was emphasized that needy families are unable to benefit from state-guaranteed social services, including social benefits, opportunities for placing children in kindergartens and clubs.
According to the data presented at the meeting, in 184 mahallas, all 2,000 applications received over one month were unreasonably rejected.
It was noted that such cases are especially frequent in the districts of Bostan and Oltinkul in Andijan region, Havos in Syrdarya region, Tashlok in Fergana region, Sharof Rashidov in Jizzakh region, Uchkuduk in Navoi region, and Dehqonobod in Kashkadarya region.
Therefore, appeals addressed to the President regarding inclusion in the Social Register have increased 1.5 times since the beginning of the year, reaching 46,000 from 30,000.
The President assigned the Prosecutor General's Office the task of establishing strict control over the lawful and transparent maintenance of the Social Register.
Additionally, Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva, First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection, was tasked with regularly informing the President about the fairness of the Social Register.
At the meeting, the responsible officials were tasked with bringing 25 types of social services, such as early detection of disability, home adaptation, and placement in social housing, down to the mahalla level by the end of the year.
In addition, within three months, day care and home care services and 'Madad' houses for persons with dementia and intellectual disabilities will be established in 250 mahallas, and the 'Active Life' program for elderly people in need of care will be launched in 75 mahallas. It was also decided to organize "Support Centers" for abandoned children and children victims of violence.
